Our approved collection partners are registered charities and social enterprises.
Because many of the items we collect are donated to low-income families, or sold to help sustain their social welfare objectives, it’s important that they are kept in the best condition possible. For this reason, our approved partners collect items directly from inside your home.
All charity furniture collections are processed at authorised facilities and we make sure that as many items as possible are reused. When we can’t find a new home for items, we recycle them.
We take furniture (wardrobes, desks, sofas, armchairs etc), electrical items (cookers, fridges, freezers, washing machines etc), and more besides. If in doubt, fill out the form and contact us, and we'll let you know.
We take the following conditions of items:
Bottom line - a charity shop would need to be able to sell this and make money. If your items aren't in this condition, then you can use our Bulky Waste partner site.
All upholstered items must have have a fire safety label attached to each item. The fire label may be on any external surface of the item including underneath removable seating and cushions. Upholstered bed bases and mattresses must also have a fire label sewn in, which refers to BS7177.
The Furniture Donation Network is a ‘Community Dotcom’ charity portal developed by social entrepreneur Steve Jackson OBE, founder of Recycling Lives – a Queen’s Award-winning commercial recycler and social welfare charity. The Furniture Donation Network project aims to provide people across the UK with an easy way to donate very good and excellent quality furniture to local charities.
At the Furniture Donation Network, we protect the integrity of the service on behalf of our charity collection partners by asking customers to ensure that all the furniture they donate is in either a ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’ condition.
By guaranteeing a good standard of donated furniture, we can make sure that our charity collection partners get the maximum benefit from the items that are donated, rather than having to meet the costs associated with the disposal of broken and damaged goods.
